Description
The colours of this palette are suited for designers in all categories of design and are optimized to the colour space of our SMS Standard Home & Office (o) colour palette.
The colours are intended to help avoid unnatural skin tones in photographs intended for marketing in all visual media, including for photographs printed in CMYK on coated or uncoated white substrates to universal CMYK standards (Fogra, G7, Japan Standard 2011…).
The 11 colours additionally happen to fit nicely into the colour space of our ECO colour palette, which makes it possible to print these skin tones on off-white, uncoated substrates such as newspaper printing to WAN-IFRA standards (ISO 12647-3).
The following proposed natural skin tones are included – from lightest to darkest:
Northern Europe, Central Europe, Southern Europe, Middle East/N-Africa, Eastern Asia (China, Japan), South East Asia (Tailand/Vietnam), South Asia(Indland, Pakistan), South America (Latino), Africa (lightest), Africa (Medium dark), Africa (darkest).
The colours, delivered in sRGB format, can easily be converted to other colour spaces, such as REC 709, REC 2020, P3, Adobe RGB or CMYK for printing on coated and uncoated paper in a few simple steps.
The default colour space the P20skin colour palette is delivered in is sRGB. The palette is delivered in PDF and ASE format.

The basic idea behind the Spot Matching System is that you create your design in sRGB first, present it to your customer (who can simply view your artwork on his laptop or his smart device) and once approved, if you need to print your SMS colours you either convert your sRGB SMS colours to CMYK yourself, or order the print variations from support@spotmatchingsystem.com.

This colour palette includes lifetime access to technical support and services by Spot-Nordic for services and proofs where colours from the respective colour palette are used.
The purpose of this first skin tone colour palette is to help prevent un-natural skin tones in images used for marketing – while at the same time enabling brands to keep the skin colour of their models consistent cross media and different substrates.
Confident designers that know their way around Adobe Photoshop (or similar apps) should be aware that it is additionally possible for them to apply SMS colours as digital make-up to images, – a special SMS colour lipstick (see for instance the red lipstick of our model), blush or eyeliner and even to apply a special SMS colour for the dress or suit (see the dress of the model), – as long as they have the written permission of the photographer and model to play around with the image.
