P21: SMS READY Expert certification for individuals. 

The SMS READY certificate entitles the certificate holder to assist registered SMS users and SMS subscribers to convert SMS colours from sRGB to their intended colour gamut as well as to take position of Super User for subscribed Brand owners and certified design agencies and print shops. Furthermore, SMS READY Experts are trained in how to use the SMS READY control strip to ensure correct colour in CMYK printing to ISO 12647 standards and Extended Gamut Printing (whether SMS colours are present in the layout or not).

Included in the purchase is a copy of the SMS Standard Home & Office (P20o) colour palette.

The applicant has to provide Spot-Nordic with artwork in PDF, png or tif format (72 dpi resolution), where SMS colours are used.

Recommended software is Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator or Indesign, Affinity Designer or CorelDraw.

The artwork should be delivered to support@spotmatchingsystem.com in the original sRGB format (for web design), in Rec. 709 RGB format (for video graphics) and CMYK format (for Print) to at least 2 different print conditions, one for coated paper and the other one for uncoated paper from the list of supported icc profiles – see supported colour spaces for SMS colours.

Recommended CMYK icc profiles are the FOGRA39 icc profile (ISO Coated v2) for printing on coated paper and the FOGRA47 icc profile for printing on uncoated paper.

Each user can select one, two or all three categories, Print Graphics, Web Graphics or Video Graphics.

Applicants may contact support@spotmatchingsystem.com to request the required icc profiles. In this case we will provide the icc profiles used to actually create the Spot Matching System colour palettes.

The artwork does not have to be a masterpiece and the user does not have to be a professional designer. The point of this exercise is simply to proof that the user understands how to use SMS colours, knows how to convert them correctly to other colour spaces to ensure correct reproduction and how to check if they are correct or not before they are sent to the printer.

Professional designers may of course use an actual SMS job they are working on.

The applicant should pick out 4 SMS colours of his or her choice and deliver them in the requested formats, preferably 4 colours in a row, to make checking of the colours easy for Spot-Nordic.

The SMS READY Expert certificate is useful for designers, brand consultants, prepress operators, print consultants, teachers and colour management experts – in short people who work with or are responsible for colour in a professional capacity – for print, web or TV.

The cost of each SMS READY Expert certificate is EUR 180 and the certificate is valid for 12 months.

The customer may, in 12 months time, re-apply to extend the certificate. Each extension costs EUR 60 per year.

SMS READY Experts have a lifetime access to colour services by Spot-Nordic and are kept in the loop of upcoming changes and we furthermore like to bounce ideas of our SMS READY Experts, although there is no condition as to contribution to the development of the Spot Matching System.

The SMS READY badge may be used for promotion in any media.
